Electric Radiant Floor Heating
Warm floors are a luxury that many people choose, especially if they live in
regions where the temperature plunges during the winter months. There are two
different types of radiant floor heating electric and hydronic and each one
has its advantages and disadvantages.
Many homes builders opt for forced hot air because it is less expensive to install.
Cozy Radiant Floor Heat
While fears of global warming may or may not be misplaced, the fact remains that
winter is still a fact of life, especially in the northeastern United States.
During the cold winter months, few things seem as welcoming as a warm home, cozy
rooms, and comfortable living space. There are times however when it seems as
if the thermostat may be turned up to 70 degrees, but your comfort level is still
nowhere near comfortable.
Radiant Floor Heat
Most modern homes now are built with forced air heat. This is unfortunate as
radiant floor heat is a much superior kind of heat. Not only is it more healthy
for you but it is also cheaper in the long run.
Radiant Floor Heating
Electric radiant floor heating systems are heating systems designed for use under
carpeting, area rugs, tile, stone, and laminate wood floors and have been used
in Europe, South Africa, and Australia for over 20 years.
Radiant heat does away with the age-old problems of cold rooms by offering easy-to-install
zone heating. You can choose to either have radiant heat installed by a professional
installer or DIY with their plug-n-play portable system for under area rugs.
Radiant Floor Heat and Environment
With a lot of talk lately about doing more for the environment and being more
efficient, the question has arisen about the efficiency of radiant floor heating.
Here's what I've learned.
According to the US Dept of Energy's website radiant floor heating is efficient
in several ways.
Radiant Warm Floor Heating
If you are looking to warm your floors with a radiant heat system, and have typed “radiant
heat system” into a search engine, you might find yourself scratching your
head at this point. There are dozens of products available to purchase,
and there are even more companies telling you that their product is the best.
So which product is the best? Should you install a hydronic heating system
that pumps hot water through your floors, an electric cable heating system, or
a low voltage screen system? The answer lies in the type of project you
are doing.
Radiant Floor Heating Comfort
Radiant floor heating is an efficient and comfortable way to heat your home.
It provides superior comfort to compared forced air heating because the heat
emanates from the floor, and rises. The air cools somewhat as it rises.
Radiant Heat Panels
What are the Benefits of Radiant Heating and how do they compare to other heating
applications?
You maybe be considering radiant heat to install into your existing or your new
home but don’t quite understand the advantages or the differences between
heating applications? Well we would like to inform you of the benefits and the
comparisons to other heating applications available.
Some of the benefits of radiant heat are:
Comfort: Let your bare feet soak up the warmth of soothing heat without the dust
and noise associated with other heating sources. Enjoy evenly distributed heat
throughout your home kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and basement.
Radiant Floor Heating
Your home is your refuge, and you want it to be a pleasant place at any time.
You cannot properly enjoy your home if it gets too cold during the winter you
need your home to stay warm and cozy even during the coldest weather. Many Christmas
cards depict people and their pets looking cozy and warm while outside, the snow
is falling and the wind is blowing.
This Type of Radiant Heat
There are two major types of heating available to most houses, forced air and
radiant heating. Forced air heating uses a furnace to heat up the air, which
is then sent through the house by means of ducts. Radiant heating systems work
differently.
Radiant Floor Heating
You operate a concession trailer or mobile catering truck and what you probably
do not realize is that you share a common problem with the US Navy, Army, and
Coast Guard.
When the US Navy had heat build-up problems with their remote control vehicle
trailers when the US Army had heat build-up problems on their Patriot Missile
Launchers when the US Coast Guard had heat build-up problems on the decks of
their coastal patrol ships based in Miami and Puerto Rico they all went looking
for a solution. They required a solution that did not involve additional power
to support supplemental air conditioning systems.
Geothermal Heat Pumps
A heat pump is simply an air conditioner that contains a valve allowing it to
let you decide whether you want heat or cool air to circulate throughout your
home. The heat pump valve can be adjusted based on your specific needs - providing
you with a cool breeze or reversing its flow of Freon, located in the air conditioning
refrigerant, and delivering a toasty feel to the room. The heat pump is an electric
component that has come a long way from the proprietary gas furnace.
Radiant Floor Heating
Do you need to upgrade the heating system in your old home? Are you buying a
new home which needs an additional heating system? Are you wondering which unit
to buy? To assist you in comparing heating systems, let’s review some basic
information.
Understand the cost of running hot and cold water depends upon three factors:
How efficient does the system consume fuel? What is the cost of the fuel? How
do you operate the system? The mistake most homeowners make is to leave their
hot and cold water running all the time. The boiler, then, is constantly running
to heat the home.
Tankless Water Heater
Water is heated for two purposes in residential applications. The first is to
heat water for domestic use. Such a cleaning, washing, cooking, showers and bathing.
Electric resistance heat and electric cooling
There are several different types of heaters that you can use to supply heating
and air conditioning to your home or business. There is the gas heat and electric
cooling, electric resistance heat and electric cooling, and there is electric
heating and cooling also known as a heat pump. Each has its advantages and there
are many opinions as to which is the best, efficient and most cost effective
to use.
No More ice-cold tiling
In the past, conservatories have been notoriously difficult to heat effectively.
The greenhouse effect during summer months can produce almost unbearable temperatures,
whilst cold winter days can result in ice-cold tiling. This vast contrast in
temperature is a major reason why some conservatories are underused, particularly
in winter.
Floor Heating System
Underfloor heating is growing in popularity because it has many advantages over
the traditional form of heating, such as: low installation cost and no maintenance
costs. The heat is spread evenly over the whole room instead of being centered
around a radiator or a fireplace, and because radiant heat is used, it reduces
the airborne circulation of dust and house mites, which is ideal for asthma sufferers.
The commercial sector has increased its use of underfloor heating, and since
the late 1990’s there has been a 25% yearly increase in demand for this
heating system.
Source Heat Pumps
Did you know that in northern countries like the UK, the earth just a few feet
below the surface keeps a constant temperature of between 11 and 12 degrees Centigrade,
even in winter? It traps the heat of the sun, and stores it underground, all
year round. A Ground Source Heat Pump transfers this heat to your home to provide
space-heating. Using a compressor , it increases this heat to around 45 or 50
degrees, and transfers it to radiators or underfloor heating.
Floor Heating Systems
Demand for underfloor heating is increasing dramatically in the UK with more
and more consumers realising the benefits of energy efficiency along with the
very real comfort of underfloor heating. Our European and Scandinavian brothers
long ago realised the value of electric underfloor heating systems and gradually
as ceramic and stone floors become more the norm in the UK, we are also coming
round to enjoying the benefits of this type of heating. Investing in a ceramic,
limestone, slate or stone floor is enhanced with the addition of underfloor heating
at a relatively low cost but high comfort value.
Heat Pump Efficiency
There are three options for you to choose from when purchasing a heat pump: Geothermal,
which uses the heat from a few feet below ground or water Electrical Air Source,
which utilizes the air from the outside, heats it and then pumps it into your
home and Dual Fuel, which utilizes both gas and electricity to heat your home.
Geothermal heat pumps are considered to be some of the most efficient units.
This is because they use the natural heat of the earth which is located a few-feet
below the surface of the earth.
