You have to be careful to make sure that you connect the wires to a three phase scroll compressor correctly. Scroll compressors don’t run very well backwards.
hi! its me again from the phillipines, i would like to thank you in this video, co’z our instractor teach us only a single phase ohm reading compressor winding…gooluck!
Hello to all my fellow hvac techs, i’ve haven’t been doing this long but i have a question that i need the answer to. What is the difference between ohms and resistance. I have a fieldpiece meter and if i turn my dial to the ohms symbol and then use the resistance symbol, i’ll get the same readings. Only difference i see using the meter is that the resistance will beep and the ohms will not but they both will show the same reading.
Something to the tune of 11 years ago, our air conditioner went out. I can remember the lights in the house dimming briefly several several times the night before.
We replaced the run cap on the compressor to no avail. That unit appeared to be Sears branded which I heard was made by Heil.
thank you very much, i repaired my fridge myself. your explanation was very important for me. i cheked the compressor, it was good, then i chekd the thermostat , it was blocked . thanx………
also just wanted to add, i went through hvac school in 5 months through the air force, so if i can do it that fast, you guies can to, its a fun job, only drawback is working out in arizona lol
Thanks for making these videos. I’m finishing up my fifth hvac class at the current time, and I’m learning more from you than from my teacher at school.
DrZarkloff thanks for your videos i just joined this trade and im trying to learn everything you know.. your videos are helpful..all i need is to learn what multimeter to get..i started this trade not knowing anything..sometimes i come across motors tha are not working on units and i dont know how to check them can you help me with a video please…
if you are colorblind that shouldn’t be problematic. you will need to be more vigilant however, and have a bright flashlight and wiremarkers with you at all times.

Ohms is also used to measure impedance, which may be the case if your meter has two different settings for resistance and impedance.

Good information! The terminal of the wires doesn’t matter for three phase though…

Ohms is a measurement of resistance.

Dont forget to check to ground to see if there is a sort…a good tell- tale sign of a sort is a tripped circuit breaker..

I own a FieldPiece. I’m comfortable and familiar with it.

ohh ok, thanks alot. Ive always been interested in this trade but felt that the wiring might be a problem, but its nice to know that its possible

I know techs that have worse deficiencies than colour.

hey im interested in becoming an HVAC tech, but not sure if I can because i have a colour deficiency. just wondering if it is allowed or not??
