Van C:

I have a sunken living room. I just walked through there with no shoes on and notice that several tiles feel hot, not just warm, but actually hot! I’m theorizing that it could be hot water pipes, but the hot tiles don’t actually run the length of the room. Help!! Who would I call for something like this? A plumber?

Maybe the curtains are open and the sun is shining….

Could be hot water lines that are in contact with sub-floor in spots. I would check with either a general contractor or someone that specializes in remodeling. They should have the broadest base of experience and be able to locate the cause.

If the tiles only get hot in the wintertime, there may be a heating duct that runs under them.

Is there a room underneath? Sometimes lights will heat a small area of the floor above. Esp regular light bulbs. Sometimes crawl spaces have lights in em too check this out.
