viceroy:
I have a two storied house but only one air conditioner. The thermostat is located on the first floor. During summer the rooms upstairs really get hot during the after noon hours and is almost impossible to stay upstairs. Can a radiant heat blocker paint to the underside of the roof be of any help. How effective (temperature reduction in the attic) is this method?
Comment please!

They say that radiant barrier paint really works…but for the life of me I can’t see how a layer of silver paint on the underside of your roof can do any good at all…except make money for the company that sprays it on.
A deep layer of blown in insulation is you best investment….plus add a good attic ventilation system….which could be gable vents as well as power roof vents….and maybe even some under eve vents that allow the cooler air to enter at lower part and hotter air to escape up high through the power vents.
