I asked the contractor what type of heat we would need and he said it is all radiant heating. Does this mean no heat type required?

Not sure which kind you have but some new homes have Radiant heat in the floor. That is where you have a tube system inside the floor that runs heated water thru them to warm the home. It is a great system and fairly cheap.

Radiant heat does not have a fan/blower. The heat source (electric, steam or water) is contained in a radiator or tubing and the heat eminates from them. Nice thing about these systems is that everything in the room (furniture, walls, floor etc) stays pretty much the same temp without hot/cold blasts from a fan coming on and going off. Downside is that they require a seperate A/C system.
